If you have laminate flooring in your house, and a section becomes damaged, you can easily and quickly repair it. Below are two different ways you can replace damaged laminate flooring.
Damage Near The Edge Of The Room
If the damaged section of the laminate flooring is near the edge of the room, instead of repairing that section, all you have to do is replace it.
Using a marker and ruler, draw lines around the damaged area, creating a square or rectangular shape. Then, use a utility knife to cut out the damaged section of laminate flooring.
Next, use the damage section as a template. Place it against a new laminate board and use it to cut the new board down to size. Peel the backing off the new, cut laminate section and push it into the space that you created. You may need to use a hammer to gently guide it into place.
This method works best on boards near the edge of the room where you will have more space to remove the board and where the replaced section will not stand out as much.
Damage In The Center Of The Room
If the damaged area is more in the center of the room, you can go another route to repair it. You will need to purchase a laminate repair compound kit in order to repair the damage.
First, you will need to prepare the compound. You will need to cut the nozzle off and mix the two compounds in the kit together inside of a tray.
Once the compound is created, use a plastic scraper to apply and press the repair compound into the damaged area of the flooring. The, use a metal scraper to even out the compound and wipe away any excess. The repair compound tends to dry quickly, so make sure you complete this step before it has a chance to dry.
The compound should dry in place and should fill in the damaged area and blend in with the existing flooring. This option works well in highly-visible areas; you will hardly be able to tell the difference between the repaired section of floor and the rest of the flooring.
If part of your laminate flooring has become damaged, use the repair method above that works best for your space. Cutting out and removing the laminate flooring works best in areas where it will not be obvious. Using the repair compound kit works best in highly visible areas of your flooring.

Before you decide on adding a pool to your backyard, you need to decide how you’re going to take care of the pool once it’s in. This is a very important part of the pool addition process, because you’re going to spend a lot more time on the upkeep of the pool than on the installation, and it’s important to have a plan in place. After years of pool ownership, I’ve learned a lot about how to take care of a pool, what you can do yourself, and what to leave to the pool professionals. I started this blog to help others learn what they need to know about pool care and maintenance. Take a deep breath and dive right in!
